Chess

Filled with innovation and competition, the game of chess is distinct in its own way. It is based on position and is played between two players. The game is played on a square chequered chessboard with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid.

The competitive chess started in the16th century which evolved from similar, yet much older games of Indian and Persian origin. Today it is a recognized sport of the International Olympic Committee. The first official World Chess Champion, Wilhelm Steinitz, claimed his title in 1886; Viswanathan Anand is the current World Champion. Chess has become popular worldwide and is played by millions of people at home, in clubs, online, by correspondence, and in tournaments. A whole new world is the online industry. There are online players from begginers to experts participating in various online tournaments.
