Weinstein is a many-time NABC champion and ranked by the ACBL as a Grand Life Master with more than 14,600 masterpoints. In international play, he is ranked by the World Bridge Federation as an Open International Master.
In 2006, he finished 2nd in the World Open Pairs held in Verona, Italy.

Steve Weinstein seems to be making a habit of winning a major pair championship. He captured the National Life Master Pair title, the youngest player to do so in the 53-year history of the event. That night he won the Goldman pairs, an even older championship, by the narrowest possible margin, setting another age record at 19. His partner on both occasions was Fred Stewart, also of Accord.
